Angioid retinal streaks are caused by breaks in Bruch's membrane.
Conditions associated with angioid retinal streaks include:
- Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (most common association)
- Pagets disease
- Sickle cell disease
- Marfan's syndrome
- Hypercalcaemia
