Atrial myxomas are the commonest primary neoplasm of the heart. They are usually benign.
75% are in the left atrium.
Females >males
7% are familial
Features of atrial myxoma may include:
- Fever
- Weight loss
- Cardiac failure
- Emboli
- Atrial fibrillation
- Clubbing
- Mid-diastolic murmur
- Raised ESR
Treatment is surgical.
