Atrial myxoma

Atrial myxomas are the commonest primary neoplasm of the heart. They are usually benign. 

75% are in the left atrium
Females >males 
7% are familial 

Features of atrial myxoma may include: 
  • Fever
  • Weight loss
  • Cardiac failure
  • Emboli 
  • Atrial fibrillation 
  • Clubbing
  • Mid-diastolic murmur 
  • Raised ESR

Treatment is surgical.
